Collateral

41/2/5 stars
Collateral
jamie Foxx, Tom Cruise, Jada Pinkett Smith

amazing
it took Micheal Mann 3 years to put this movie out. as i was watching i wondered why, now at the end of the movie it is more than clear to me. the characters are incredibly deep(characters who make 5 minute appereances have more character than Viggo Mortenson did in the entire movie of Hidalgo.) action moments are intense and scary, and the acting is spot on especially for Tom Criuse. An entire carear of playing the pretty boy comes to a screching halt with vincent, a cold heartless killer who dosent care how many people fall to his gun as long as he gets paid. But disregard Jamie Foxx, every snide, disgusting comment Vincent makes is countered with Max's sweet, good natured philosophy. sure there are some weaknesses: an occasionally predictable plot, and the feiling that it could have been twice as long, but dont let these minor quibbles keep you from taking a ride with the groundbreaking movie that is Collateral.

I-Robot

31/2/5 stars
I-Robot
Will smith
above the rest
as far as blockbusters this is pretty basic: you got your hot female love interest, your evil corperation, and your smart alecky black cop(whos jokes are often unfunny and wofully out of place.) So why the big score? becuase this movie takes time to polish and refine the things that most blockbusters skip for another shot of an enemy getting blasted with a shotgun. The story(little to do with any Assimov) is a little janky at first but after the first half-hour it warms up almost instantly, forgetting that Will Smith is in this movie and adding much to the deep, emusing mytho. Sure I-Robot has some pitfalls: like an unimaginitive ending and some predictable script moments, but givin that the rest of the movie is so good you wont notice for too long.
