Munich

so much for a happy ending
i usually dont write about oscar winners/ nominees because there is usaully nothing ot say. newspapers and reporters can droll on about masterpeices like the aviator forever but in the end "a great movie" is still "a great movie" no matter how artsy you say it. however theres lots to talk about with munich. people are getting riled up by the fact that not only is there no ending, but that speilberg dosent pick a side, even tohugh hes a jew himself. but the message is deeper than who is right or wrong here, the point is that these people and places are interchangable, Speilberg could have told this story with any historical war event, so the story and characters are more personal preference than sides. but the message here is not interchangable, its about violence, about that it only begets more, the terifing tole it takes on people, and that at the end of the day everybody dies and nobody wins. this film draws even more disturbing parralles, in one scene 2 opposing sides meet in athens and discover how similiar their casues are and how similiar their struggles have become. unfortunatly the peace comes to an end when in the next scene these 2 aqcuiantences shoot eachother to pieces. its a very hate it or love it setup but it seemed to grab me does it grab you?
